Early childhood trauma threatens long-term health.

From addiction to diabetes, heart disease and lung cancer, numerous studies have shown that adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) — which include abuse, neglect and household dysfunction – can have lifelong negative impacts on the health of a child and the adult they become. And as awareness and intervention efforts grow, more children will have the chance to receive the early support that reduce the impact of ACE’s.

Dr. Nadine Harris gives an overview of her work with ACEs in the TED Talk video below. Visit ACEstoohigh.org to learn more and take the 10-question ACE’s test to find out how you score.

Dr. Harris is internationally known for linking adverse childhood experiences and toxic stress with harmful effects to health later on in life.
