About Us: 

The Port Hueneme/South Oxnard Neighborhood for Learning serves the community with a primary focus on activities that ensure “School Readiness” and family strengthening for children prenatal to 5 years of age. Supporting our Mission which is to promote school readiness, enhance the potential for young children to engage in life-long learning and support the continuous improvement, of environments critical to the health and well-being of children, from prenatal to five years of age and their families in Ventura County. By creating and maintaining a community-wide effort, parents have acces to comprehensive,      culturally competent, integrated and high quality prenatal and early childhood development services. Programs and Services: 
  • Pre-Kindergarten Transition Summer Program
  • Age appropriate reading activities at the Ray D. Prueter Library;
  • Family Child Care Provider Services;
  • Speech and Language Intervention Services;
  • Family Resource Center Services;
  • Mini-Grant Preschool Support Program at local private preschools;
  • Mixteco Outreach and support through the Mixteco/Indigena Community Organizing Project (MICOP);
  • Developmental Screening provided through Public Health;
  • Social emotional screening provided through Behavioral Health;
  • Full and half day Preschools through Child Development Resources, Child Development Incorporated and Ventura County Office of Education Preschool for All
