First 5 Ventura County is governed by a nine member volunteer commission appointed by the Board of Supervisors. These individuals come from a variety of backgrounds in health, human services, government and education and are united by a desire to make Ventura County the best it can be for young children and families. They each bring unique knowledge and expertise to guide First 5 staff and help develop an integrated, community based web of services and support.

Standing committees in Health, Administration and Finance, Early Learning and Family Strengthening bring Commission and community members together with First 5 staff to support the Commission's decision-making process and provide oversight. Those interested in participating in First 5 governance should contact the appropriate committee liaison.
